Gyro Kabob (soon to be known “California Greek”)
Sunset Beach, Calif.–Delicious,
fresh food created at an exciting eatery
called, “Gyro Kabob” (soon to known as,
“California Greek”) is our best bet this
week for affordable dining in Orange
County. Once you taste their shakes and
meals, you’ll abandon nearby fast food
Greek restaurants and head straight to
the door of this Sunset Beach sensation.
The scrumptious gyros created by Telly,
Deanna, Alanah and Andrew Ntzouras are
just part of the fun at the quaint
eatery they started operating a few
months ago. (They also serve Angus
burgers, Date Shakes and much more.)
“We love
people,” explained the family mother,
Deanna. “Knowing that we’re serving
good, healthy, fresh food cooked to
order means a lot to us.”
“We cook
kronos (beef & lamb) on a spit making it
taste leaner and more flavorful,” said
the former schoolteacher. “We also use
soy bean oil.”
Son Andrew
said, “Nothing is processed, “we cook
everything after you order it.”
No wonder
the restaurant, which also does
catering, has a steady group of
“regulars.” “We often know what they
want when they come through the door,”
Andrew said.
One such
customer, named “Mark,” came in to get
his Angus beef cheeseburger. “It’s
delicious and the family are all good
people. That’s a winning combination for
me,” Mark said.
You won’t
find a friendlier family restaurant
anywhere. They learned their style from
Andrew’s grandma, Helen Kotinos, who
immigrated from Greece in the 1960s and
ran a South Gate restaurant for 30
years. They’re California Greeks who
enjoy what they do and you will too!
